Goodbye 2014!

I never had a "The end of a year" post but with year like this one maybe it is time for one. I have a feeling that 2013 was 5 years ago because so many things happened and so many things changed in 2014. I already mentioned few times on my blog that most important thing happened this year and that is birth of my daughter. It really is the best feeling in the world and you just change the perspective on so many things. Right now I live a life of ( desperate ) housewife but I do love my family life. It is funny that with so much time that I spend at home I don't have time to do a lot. I don't have time for cafe with my friends, to text back and forth with my friends, read a book or paint my nails as much I'm used but appreciate my free time a lot more. I love to play with my baby, discover and improvise in the kitchen and the thing I didn't expected...to watch so many TV shows :)

I don't have big plans for new year. Right now I'm going day by day and trying to make the best of it but I am looking forward to 2015. I don't believe in new year resolutions because you can make big decisions on a random Wednesday but I do believe that with the end of one year we can turn the page.I wish you the best and have fun tonight no matter if you are going on big party with your friends or you are gonna be in your pjs.

I learn a lot this year and to end this post here is one of most important things...

New in - October, November and December 2014

I was pretty modest last few months. As you can see in last 3 months I didn't get  a lot of beauty products. I have huge stash of shower gels and body lotion so I hope to use up at least half of my stash until I start to buy more. I did however get two Balea shower gels White Passion and Purple Kisses but that's it. I also have Today deo spray which I never tried before.

Now I have few products that I already told you about. To find out more about Essence Yes, We Pop! Bubble Gum and Pop Love click here ...

...if you are interested in Essence Best Pop, Essence Best Female or Essence Walk In The Park click here ...

Essence Mountain Calling products are here, Catrice Floral OrnARTment is here. I bought one new nail polish and I didn't tried it yet Essence Live, Laugh And Party

I managed to keep myself from body lotions but I couldn't get away from hand balms. Here I have Cherry & Coconut, Vanilla & Cinnamon and Meet Me @ Ski Lounge. I love them all but my favorite is the one from Mountain Calling TE.

Did you tried any of these products?

Themed wedding

I live in Croatia and most weddings here are traditional. Those who want to escape the tradition they often opt for small weddings. Rarely you can see themed weddings. I was at million weddings in my life but I was never at themed wedding. I hope I will have a chance to attend it some time because that is something that could be interesting to experience. People mostly choose traditional weddings but if you want something different and you want to stand out theme wedding is a great idea.

There are so many ways to do it. You can make it simple and just get the color theme or go bigger and get the theme with location, color, dress code...But even only small detail can change everything, so if you have something of your own go for it. My wedding was in winter but if it was it in summer I would definitely had sunflowers everywhere. That was my long time wish but it wasn't working at winter. This way I had my hot pink roses and they were perfect too :)

Here are some ideas for themed wedding!
Every detail makes a difference, even if it is something only you and your other half understand and it has meaning for two of you. Like a certain place or even a date. We are at holiday season right now and these days it would be cool to have Christmas or winter wonderland themed wedding. Beautiful red decoration and ornaments come to my mind immediately, as well as snow, ice, silver and white. For other seasons you can easily get fantastic results with only few details. Daisies or sunflowers for the summer, leafs and fruit for fall and green and colorful flowers for spring.

Location can play a good role in themed wedding. If you are in castle in my mind that is beautiful vintage dress and lots of luxury details. On the other hand if you are on the island it is perfect for beach wedding. Laid back Beach wedding dresses and relaxed atmosphere.
You can get inspired by a color. You can choose a color and make all the details in one or two colors. Sometimes there is a dress code so everyone is in the same color. It could be difficult for the guests but it has great effect.

If you are not satisfy with having only small details you can go big and have completely different wedding and make it your own. People are often inspired by movies or books ( like Titanic or The Great Gatsby which is very popular lately, Wizard Of Oz, Alice In Wonderland ), by time period ( it would be so fun to attend 70's inspired wedding ) , or maybe with some video game or superheroes. What ever it is the choice is yours.

History of wedding dresses

Nowadays in western culture it is completely normal to see white wedding dress. Last week I was writing about bridal trends and it got me thinking of the history of wedding dress and how it all started. As you can guess the wedding dress wasn't always white and it definitely wasn't as important to brides as today. Today we have the whole wedding industry and multiple choices for everything. Hundreds years ago wedding represented union of two families and the dress for the wedding was usually the best dress bride had. Most of time it wasn't new and the color wasn't important but very often it was darker color. If the dress was new then it was something bride could wear again or with wealthier families something that could represent their social status.

Like today royals had a lot to do with wedding trends. First documented princess who wore white at the wedding was Philippa Of England in 1402, but the one who made white wedding dress popular was Queen Victoria at 1840. Photograph of the wedding was widely published and white dress quickly became first choice for brides. In 20th century style of wedding dress represented current fashion, in 1960's it became popular to wear long dresses and that retained until today. It is interesting that popular belief that white dress represents virginity and purity is wrong, that used to be color blue.

Today whole concept of weddings has changed and evolved. There are many choices and as the fashion changes the dress changes a bit as well. White, long dress still remains most popular but brides can choose any style they want. Pop culture, royal weddings have high influence on trends in weddings. Trough the years there were so many beautiful dresses worn by celebrities that look timeless and they are inspiration of many even now when there are so many options. Sometimes it is good to look at history and find classics to get some inspiration and maybe Vintage wedding dress is a good choice to find that one special dress. If you want to find more dresses like the one bellow check out DresseStylist.

Now let's look at other cultures for a little bit. First dress that comes to my mind is Indian wedding dress. Luxury of colors and details. In past the dress was traditional red sari and it was made of silk. Later woman expanded the choice of color as well as material. Same thing happened in other Eastern cultures like Chinese, Pakistan and Vietnam. Traditional red dress is not only option any more. Japanese weddings involve white traditional white kimono.
